I head a leading international group that carries out research into the early stages of addiction among adolescents. I am interested in why some young people can keep control over their behaviors, in particular substance use, while others cannot. The early stages of addiction in particular fascinate me.
What I want to achieve:
I hope that with our fundamental basic research on children, adolescents and parents, we can develop theory-based and effective prevention and intervention programs that have a strong impact on young people’s lives.
