Tamara Spiewak Toub
Managing Editor, Child and Family BlogAbout the author:
My research has primarily been focused on children’s learning through play. My work has specifically explored the relation between preschoolers’ pretending and their executive function abilities and the use of games and other playful activities to support language and STEM development in early childhood.
What I want to achieve:
I work to support children’s development by bringing evidence-based insights (from developmental psychology and the science of learning) into their environments and relationships. I strive to collaborate with content creators, educators, policymakers, caregivers, and other stakeholders to promote children’s well-being by valuing each other’s relevant expertise.
My previous positions:
- A consultant for organizations such as Zero to Three, the LEGO Foundation, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop, and Reflection Sciences, Inc.
- Visiting Research Scholar and Post-doctoral Fellow in the Developmental Psychology program at Temple University
- Post-doctoral Fellow at the Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences at University of Washington
Other information:
My professional perspective is now informed, too, by my experiences as a mother, including my interactions with family and the various communities and events in which we are engaged (e.g., parenting groups, schools, cultural events, etc.).
