Shawna J. Lee
Associate Professor at the School of Social Work, and Director at the Parenting in Context Research Lab, University of Michigan, USAAbout the author:
My research interests include child maltreatment prevention, father-child relationships, parenting stress and family functioning, and parental discipline. My latest project examines parenting and stress during the coronavirus pandemic. I am also conducting research that uses the UNICEF Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) data to examine parental discipline and child wellbeing on a global scale.
What I want to achieve:
One of the main goals of my research agenda is to help parents and professionals understand that physical punishment of children causes more harm than good, and that non-physical approaches to discipline are more effective in promoting children’s health and wellbeing.
