Nora Wiium
Professor of Developmental Psychology at University of Bergen, NorwayAbout the author:
My research interests include the following:
- Positive development in young people from different backgrounds and contexts
- Refugees, migrants, minority backgrounds, and positive youth development
- Positive youth development and mental health
- Positive youth development, diversity, and youth contribution to society
- Adolescents, emerging adults, health behaviors, individual and contextual factors
- Youth, tobacco use, risk and protective factors
What I want to achieve:
As the principal investigator for the Cross-National Positive Youth Development Network (CN‑PYD), I aim to elevate and amplify underrepresented voices, particularly those from outside Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Developed (WEIRD) contexts, through collaborative scholarship. By advancing research on Positive Youth Development, I hope to foster meaningful theoretical innovation, broaden the global evidence base on young people’s experiences, and support the creation of policies and interventions developed in partnership with stakeholders and youth themselves
